SUMMARY: This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston, Texas. The Avionics Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and test of software for our space station and ground systems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position will play a key role in the development of software for commercial human spaceflight modules and supporting ground systems.
  • Responsibilities will include the development, testing, and deployment of software solutions that implement or interface with command & data handling (C&DH), caution and warning (C&W), networks, databases, and NASA systems onboard and on the ground.
  • Communicate with subject matter experts across disciplines, users, and management throughout the software test and development lifecycle.
  • Maintain disciplined software configuration control and management processes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • Experience designing and implementing efficient systems to solve a particular challenge
  • Proficient coding in C++
  • Experience coding in Rust and Python is a plus
  • Prior experience building distributed services, especially online or real-time data pipelines
  • Comfortable researching existing software solutions to problems
  • Able to work in a Linux environment
  • Database experience is a plus
  • Audio/Video coding experience is a plus


Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements


  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
