Rust Job: Junior Full Stack Engineer

Straight Arrow News has an opening for a Junior Full Stack Developer. The ideal candidate is someone who is self motivated, has a strong interest in broadcasting, and can work with tight deadlines and evolving priorities. The candidate must have an understanding, and background working with Wordpress, and preferably experience with the VIP platform. The candidate must be willing to quickly learn new concepts and frameworks, and able to pivot to another technology if needed. As a key member of our team they will be heavily involved in ensuring our website and other digital properties are fully functional and providing an excellent user experience.

Responsibilities :

• Maintain our highly customized Wordpress environment
• Work with stakeholders to implement desired improvements
• Work with our agency and staff to identify and resolve bugs
• Under supervision of our Senior Developer solve other technical issues as they arise

Basic Qualifications :

• Experience in a LAMP environment
• Strong PHP Skills
• Expert Javascript Skills
• Exposure to SQL
• Some understanding of AWS or cloud platforms.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of reactive frameworks ie; React, Vue, Svelte (major bonus points for Svelte)
• Basic knowledge of Python
• Experience working with AWS infrastructure in a business environment
• Experience in the multimedia field
• A drive for innovation in and around media / broadcasting
• Rust or experience with embedded languages is a major plus

Required Education :
BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience.

This is a remote contract position with an opportunity for hire at a later date. Straight Arrow News is an intellectually diverse employer.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
